The standards group approved by the FCC to set standards for the In-Band On-Channel (IBOC) digital radio system has formally adopted an updated version of the digital radio standards used by HD-radio. The updated version, NRSC-5-C, includes 70+ modifications and improvements they hope will improve the HD-Radio experience and improve signal coverage. The FCC, which pretty much farmed out the initial digital radio standards process to the NRSC, is expected to rubber stamp the new standard within a couple of weeks.
